Blake Elliott is a life-long songwriter and lover of music who has called Northern Michigan home for well over a decade. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan into a family of musicians of varying degrees, Blake was surrounded by music from an early age. She began her own musical exploration with the flute and piano, then continued on to find her true passion in the guitar and songwriting. Self-taught starting at age 13, Blake paired her original lyrics with her new found love guitar, which has been at the center of her life ever since. Over the years she has performed and collaborated with musicians from across Michigan and the US, sharing the stage and billing with acts such as Grammy Award-winning artist Billy Strings, Sixto “Sugarman” Rodriguez, The Accidentals, Greg Brown, and jazz-blues outfit Davina and the Vagabonds.
When the pandemic took hold of the global community, Blake found a profound value in service as both an artist and as a caretaker. This shift opened up a deeper desire to create and connect with others in order to grow, while also cultivating meaningful relationships and facilitate healing. Continuing on this path is dear to her, but it is also something that she regards as necessary to the betterment of all who are in this current experience of life. Blake is on the contemporary songwriting faculty at Interlochen School for the Arts in Northern Michigan.
