Creative expression comes in many forms. It can manifest through song, visual arts, storytelling or composition. That output has the power to bring people together, bringing an understanding that transcends generational, racial, economic, religious and cultural gaps.
The Immergent team has harnessed that powerful expression and developed four curated program offerings through our Immersive Events, Production House, Publishing House and Educational Facilitations. By creating collaborative programming in these four areas, we hope to affect understanding and increase acceptance within communities and individuals as they share their stories, struggles and successes.
Aside from the common theme of creative expression, participants will experience a level of community engagement beyond no other. Immergent is positioned to become a partner of any community and act as a conduit for creativity to flow and for healing to begin.
Storytelling has been at the center of human history since the first records of human interaction were discovered. Performance art has taken storytelling to the next level with the addition of visual arts and music, fully enveloping the audience in the moment and message.
Immergent offers four immersive experiences that help communities share their stories and feel them in return. With our community learning circles, workshop facilitation, creative composition, production development and more, our creative team thrives on bringing those stories to life.
A cornerstone to Immergent is the integrated engagement of a community. Everyone from businesses to local governments, religious to academic institutions and community groups play vital roles in the success of the curated programming. Collaboratively designed by the participants and our creative teams, each program is meant to transform a way of thinking, feeling and gathering together, empowering the individual and ultimately a community. So how does it work?
Through facilitated introductions, conversations are initiated with communities to determine the project’s creative and logistical roadmap. Our creative team begins to lay the foundation of the event with community workshops and story gathering. This critical step is taken with much care and respect for the communities’ unique histories and ways of being. As the first step of the process, this provides the opportunity for people to gather, share and begin the journey into collective healing.
From the stories gathered in the initial step, this phase of the project starts the development of the creative output. Whether it is a musical performance, theatrical production, art installation, or immersive art, this phase builds the common initiative. Not unlike the previous phase, this framework is constructed with the heavy participation of the community. The engagement of intergenerational community members, artists, , and facilitators is core to the development of the programming and the final output.
After weeks of development and preparation, the creative team and community participants debut the fruits of their labor. Through music, art or theatrical performance, a temporary “experience” is opened to the public for collective participation. Common themes that one can expect at any of the programs are that they:
With every Immergent program, it is imperative to create lasting and sustainable change. We ensure every closure of a project is a soft, rolling exit providing tools for ongoing connections across participants and viewers alike. Our team conducts post-event evaluations from all parties to determine project impact and identify avenues for continued support for local artists.
